Bishkek April 25-30, 1929

HEALTHCARE

Newly constructed:

In Bishkek:
1) Surgical department and infectious diseases ward of the city hospital.
2) Completion of the maternity hospital.
3) Outpatient clinic No. 1.
4) Tuberculosis sanatorium.

… In 1928, a paid dental office was opened in Bishkek on the principle of self-sufficiency to relieve the dental offices at the outpatient clinics; its six-month existence fully justified the hopes placed on it.
Systematic fight against tuberculosis began only in Bishkek with the opening of the tuberculosis dispensary in 1926, which included a night sanatorium with 10 beds for financially disadvantaged patients.

In addition to medical work, the tuberculosis dispensary conducted significant preventive work, namely: in 1926-27 and 1927/28, home examinations were conducted - 883, examinations for tuberculosis of union members in Bishkek amounted to - 861. After examination, all tuberculosis cases were registered. Tuberculosis cells were organized at enterprises, from which a social assistance council was formed.

During this same period, the tuberculosis dispensary conducted 84 talks and lectures, with 317 attendees.

At the end of 1927, a tuberculosis dispensary with 25 beds was opened in Bishkek. In the summer of 1928, a solarium with 10 beds for bone tuberculosis was opened, accommodating 62 people who spent 2313 bed-days.

The tuberculosis sanatorium began preparing corsets and beds for patients. In a short time, 7 removable elastic corsets and 40 plaster beds were prepared and provided to patients.

The systematic fight against malaria is currently being conducted only by the malaria station in Bishkek, which opened in 1926. In the cantons, despite the significant development of malaria in some of them, malaria stations have not yet been opened due to a lack of funds....

The reduction in morbidity in 1927 was achieved by draining swamps over an area of 174 desiatinas around Bishkek.

The first institution for the protection of motherhood and childhood was opened in Bishkek at the end of 1925. The budget for the protection of motherhood and childhood over 3 years was as follows: in 1925/26 - 35,506 rubles, in 1926-27 - 44,171 rubles, in 1927/28 - 93,520 rubles....

In Bishkek, child protection is beginning to work with a pedagogical approach to children and studying the personality of the child. In terms of health improvement, we have a children's preventive outpatient clinic consisting of five offices: pediatric, dental, ophthalmology, ENT, and a medical control office for physical development....
