City Trade Organization of Osh
One of the important issues is ensuring the needs of the city's residents for food and industrial goods. The city trade organization of Osh was separated from the city mixed trade organization in 1963. In 1986, the trade organization included 83 stores, 44 stalls and kiosks, 6 warehouses, and 56 specialized shops: household goods — 11, haberdashery, knitwear, perfumery — 19, clothing — 4, footwear — 2, cultural goods — 4, and others. Stores operate selling goods by consumer complexes: goods for women, goods for men, goods for youth, goods for the home, and others. The largest stores are the department store "Osh," "Mir," "Ai-churek," "Gulkair," "Tolkun," "Cheremushki."
The city food trade organization of Osh was established in 1963, and in 1986 it included 9 self-financing stores, which had 126 trading enterprises, 85 units of small retail networks, 21 glass collection points, 7 warehouses, and 2 refrigerators with a volume of 250 m3. The largest stores are the grocery store "Universam," "Shirin," "Kyrgyzstan."
Public catering developed in the city throughout the years of Soviet power. In 1984, there were 6 restaurants and 11 cafes owned by the city trust "Public Catering." The number of seats in restaurants was 970, and in cafes — 772. Of the six restaurants, 4 were of the first category, and 2 were of the second category, the most popular among them being "Osh" (with 170 seats, opened in 1969), "Ak-Bura" (140; 1961), "Chinara" (280; 1966), "Cholpon" (150; 1967). In 1986, there were 95 canteens with 9270 seats, of which — in schools (1350 seats), 14 — in educational institutions (1848 seats), 55 — in enterprises and institutions (3968 seats). The total turnover of the "Public Catering" trust amounts to hundreds of thousands of rubles.
The development of trading points in the city was greatly influenced by excellent specialists in their field: M. Yeshmatov, M. Joroev, E. Choyunov, I. Abdildaev, and many others. Therefore, M. Yeshmatov, for example, is the most respected person in the city; he participates in all trade events.
