I have become like a snake that has no legs
I have no brothers, no relatives
I have grown up all alone in this whole world!
- I wanted to be in alliance with Abike
To hand over the battle banner to Bakai
To wage war against China
To avenge the lion Manas with this!
- Oh, woe is me now! Oh, woe!
My eyes are not happy in this world!
Weeping, Semetey spoke
Leaning his body on his axe
At that moment, Abike rode up
With sixty marksmen beside him
Semetey got off his horse, took off his akkise
And began to speak, tormented by humility:
- My horse will be a gift to you!
Do no evil, uncle, listen to me!
Take my mother, Kanykey, as your wife
I will give you any horse!
If I rise in stature – be my support
If I fall – be my support
Do not send your heroes to fight
Do not bring me grief, through your fault!
Do not bring misfortune upon the orphan
No kin is stronger than a soul
Do not anger me, I beg you, uncle
Do not let my soul ignite!
Humbly, he asked for reconciliation
Addressing Abike, Semetey
But the uncle did not hear the orphan at all
Everything flew past his ears!
- Catch this puppy and beat him!
Angry Abike then gave the order
The marksmen showered him with bullets like hail
Semetey's akkelte saved him from death!
The son of Manas became enraged, jumped on his horse
And killed everyone with his syrnayza
- "Semetey will not leave me alive!"
Abike thought and ran away with all his might
- Better I will run to Andijan
I will stay alive if I do not fight
It seems Allah has punished me
I should have reconciled with Semetey!
Abike rushed to flee
But Semetey caught up with him, in return
Gently pricked him from behind with a spear
Deciding to take him alive as a prisoner
To bring him to the khan and marry him
But Semetey's spear slipped through
Passed through Abike's back, pierced his throat
Thus tragically he perished!
Jakyppa caught Kanykey and Chiyyr
Crushed his head and gouged out both eyes
Kanykey caught Akylay
And recalled the past from the tale:
- We were both wives of Manas
But, thirty days have not passed since his death
You immediately married Kёbёsh
You did me wrong! – Kanykey cried
You helped my tormentors
You forced me to flee as a vagabond to Bukhara!
Kanykey dragged Akylay by the hair
And, finally, having killed her, left her lying
At that time, Sarykhan and Baytaylik
Without mercy, beat the enemies
Bakai, having seen the brave battle
Immediately then said:
- What is the people's guilt? They are needed by Semetey!
He began to persuade to stop the discord
Of the forty choro who remained alive
He ordered not to kill, until further notice!
When Semetey arrived, the choro stood up
They placed their belts around their necks
- We have committed folly, caused harm
We are not the masters of the enemy's plot!
If you want to execute us – here are our heads!
If you want to shed blood – that hour has come!
Having heard what the choro said, Khan Semetey
His heart filled with blood, and he said:
- You are the inheritance given to me by my father!
We will hand over the banners of Sary and Bakai, of battle color!
Let them lead us on the known road to China
We will avenge the death of the great Manas!
Forty choro began to serve Semetey
As in the time of Manas, life became like that
They hunted with dogs and falcons
Amused themselves with various games
They began to live peacefully and contentedly
Often went to the mountains to hunt
