Grandmother's Commandments
The young grandson came to his grandmother for advice.
- Granny, what should I ask God for myself?
Grandson, before asking the Creator for something new, ask Him for wisdom, patience, and endurance, so that you do not lose what you already have. It is better to have nothing than to lose. Do not acquire what you can do without.
If you are joyful, let sadness not visit you.
Do not lower your dignity, and do not belittle the dignity of others.
Fear no one, but treat everyone with respect.
Rely on your mind, but be tolerant of others' opinions and weaknesses.
Discuss the problem, but do not argue pointlessly.
Talk, but do not preach.
Explain, but do not campaign.
If you are not asked, do not answer.
Offer help, but do not impose yourself.
Do not pry into others' souls, but do not let everyone into yours.
Do not deceive.
Do not gloat.
Do not promise if you are not sure you can keep your promise.
