Galchenko Ivan Petrovich


Painter. Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR. He is among the artists who participated in the creation of Kyrgyz professional art since the mid-1930s. Born on August 3, 1880, in the village of Bondari, Poltava province. In 1913, he graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture under V. Serov and K. Korovin. He worked as a decorative artist in theaters in Kazan, Kineshma, and Donbass. From 1936 until the end of his life, he worked in Kyrgyzstan.

Since 1937 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

I. Galchenko worked in easel painting, actively participating in republican exhibitions. His creativity developed in the landscape-genre direction. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the medal "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," and Honorary Certificates from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.

The artist's works are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, as well as in museums of the CIS.
