Hertsen Theodor Theodorovich


Monumentalist. Graphic artist. Painter. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Laureate of the Toktogul State Prize.

Born in 1935 in the village of Orlovka, Leninpol District, Kyrgyz SSR. In 1961, he graduated from the Frunze Art College, and in 1966 - from the Moscow Higher Artistic and Industrial School (formerly Stroganov School).

Since 1970, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

He worked in the field of monumental decorative art, easel and book graphics. In graphics, he worked in various techniques - in engraving and drawing, creating numerous series and cycles.

T. Hertsen's works in graphics and monumental painting are interconnected and distinguished by a unity of style and approach to solving artistic tasks. The central focus of his recent work is a cycle of illustrations for the four-volume edition of the epic "Manas." Several years of intense, painstaking work summarized all his experience in working on Kyrgyz themes.

Participant in republican and international exhibitions. His works are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, as well as in museums of the CIS and in private collections abroad.
