Graphic artist. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.

A talented artist with a high level of professional culture, she forever linked her creative fate with Kyrgyzstan and created a deep generalized image of the Kyrgyz people in her graphics. Her works were exhibited at international and foreign exhibitions of Soviet art.

L. Ilyina was born near Ryazan. After graduating from the Ryazan Art College, she entered the graphic department of the Moscow Art Institute, which she graduated from in 1939. She studied in the wood engraving department under V.A. Favorov.

Since 1939, she has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

During the Great Patriotic War, she participated in the organization and work of the Windows of TASS. From 1945, she began working first as a book artist and then as a printmaker.

Ilyina's creative style is decisive, courageous, and monumental. As a book illustrator, Ilyina primarily worked in wood engraving. She illustrated works by Kyrgyz writers and successfully turned to the works of writers and poets from different times and nations.

She was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the "Badge of Honor," medals for "Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "For Valorous Labor. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of V.I. Lenin's birth," and four Certificates of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.

Her works are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, the Exhibition and Panorama Directorate, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of the Peoples of the East (Moscow), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), and in museums abroad.
