Osmonov Abdray

Painter. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on December 27, 1939, in the village of Shalbaa, Jeti-Oguz District, Issyk-Kul Region. In 1960, he graduated from Frunze Art College, and then in 1965, from the Faculty of Painting at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin.

Since 1968, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Since 1965, he has been teaching at the Kyrgyz State Art College named after S.A. Chuykov.

He works mainly in the field of narrative-themed paintings and portraits, emphasizing the balance of compositional structure and the locality of color. He has remained true to academic principles in the pictorial construction of his works. In the 1970s, he created works that encompass many aspects of the contemporary life of the Kyrgyz people. Osmonov has made a significant contribution to the development of visual arts in the republic. He is a participant in republican and international exhibitions.

The artist's works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, in museums of the CIS, and in private collections.
