Sydykbaev Maken
Theater artist. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on June 15, 1937, in the village of China, Jeti-Oguz district, Issyk-Kul region. In 1958, he graduated from the Frunze Art School and in 1964 from the V.I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, Faculty of Theater and Decorative Painting. Since 1964, he has been the set designer of the N. Krupskaya State Drama Theater.
Since 1967, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
From 1967 to 1975, he was a teacher at the Frunze Art School and the chief artist of the Kyrgyz State Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev.
Since 1979, he has been the chief artist of the Kyrgyz State Academic Drama Theater, and since 1989 (with interruptions) he has been the chief artist of the Kyrgyz State Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev.
In his sketches for theatrical decorations, the artist places great importance on the emotional impact of color, painterly integrity, and the breadth of his painting style. To achieve the spectacularity and rich colorfulness of the decorations, he widely uses lighting.
He has been awarded a certificate of honor from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, an Honorary Certificate from the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, and a Bronze Medal from the VDNH of the USSR.
