Film director. Born on May 9, 1931, in the town of Kok-Yangak in the Jalal-Abad region (now Osh region) in a peasant family. In 1947, after finishing 7th grade of secondary school, he continued his education at the Frunze Vocational School, and then in 1948, he entered the acting faculty of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute. After graduating in 1953, he became an actor at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater.

Since March 1957, A. Alimbayev moved to the film studio as an assistant director and participated in the filming of the movie "My Mistake" directed by I. Kobyzov. In 1959, he was a trainee director on the film "Tale of Fiery Years" ("Mosfilm") by Yu. Solntseva. In 1960, he participated in the filming of the film "The Girl of Tien-Shan" by A. Ochkin as a second director. In this capacity, A. Alimbayev also worked on the films "Dzhura" (1964) by A. Bergunker, "White Mountains" (1964) by M. Ubukeev, and "Bow to the Fire" (1972) by T. Okeeva.

However, the main focus of the director's creative activity was the dubbing of films into the Kyrgyz language. He is credited with about 100 films, including "Tales of Lenin," "Last Salvos," "Battle on the Way," "In the Name of the Revolution," "Resurrection," "Secretary of the District Committee," "Blue Notebook," "Chairman," "Hello, It's Me," "Mother's Heart," "Blown Up Hell," "Strong in Spirit," "Two Comrades Served," "Dead Season," "Retribution," "The Doom of the Black Consul," "A Soldier Came from the Front," "The Tale of Rustam," "Kyz-Zhibek," "Rustam and Suhrab," "Abu Rayhan Biruni," "The Seventh Bullet," "Every Day of Doctor Kalinnikova," and others.
