Work Activity
Born into a poor family. After the death of his father, Tugelbay's mother moved with her family to work on a homestead for a Russian teacher-settler. In Karakol, the future writer graduated from a Russian five-year school, then a ten-year school, after which he studied at an agricultural technical school and a veterinary institute.
Sydykbekov worked on a state farm, where he gathered abundant material for his future books.
In 1931, his first poem "Kaikabay" was published. During this period, he wrote several poems that first appeared in the pages of the Kyrgyz Komsomol newspaper "Lenin's Youth".
From 1932 to 1935, he was a staff member of the newspaper "Lenin's Youth".
He is the founder of the written professional art of the Kyrgyz people and the creator of the first national novel. He started with poetry and although he published several poetry collections, prose became the work of his life.
In 1937-1938, his first and second volumes of the novel "Ken-Suu" (named after his native village) were published. The first book of the novel depicts the life of a Kyrgyz village before collectivization, while the second is dedicated to collectivization and the struggle of the Kyrgyz people for the strengthening of collective farms. This work marked the beginning of the genre of epic prose in our literature.
True popularity came to the writer after the creation of the novel "People of Our Days", which tells of the heroic, selfless labor of the Kyrgyz people during the Great Patriotic War. This novel was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1949 (at that time it was called the Stalin Prize, which was the most prestigious and significant in the country). He was the first among all writers in the Kyrgyz SSR to receive this award.
From 1954 to 1958 - Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 4th convocation and the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR of the 3rd, 5th-8th convocations.
He has been published since 1928.

Education
Studied at the primary Russian five-year school named after Chekhov in Przhevalsk (now Karakol), then at a ten-year school.
In 1931, he graduated from the Frunze Agricultural Technical School, then continued his studies in Ashgabat at the veterinary institute, but interrupted it due to illness.
