Abasamat Masalievich Masaliev — Soviet and Kyrgyz party and state figure.
Born on April 10, 1933, in the village of Alysh, Kadamjai District, Osh Region, Kyrgyz ASSR.
First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan (1985—91), Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR (1985—91). Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1990—91).
In 1953, he graduated from the Kyzyl-Kiya Mining Technical School, in 1956 — from the Moscow Mining Institute, and in 1964 — from the Almaty Higher Party School.
From 1957 to 1962 — Deputy Chief Engineer of a mine, Assistant Chief Engineer of the "Kyrgyzugol" trust, instructor of the industrial and transport department of the Osh Regional Committee of the Party, then — inspector of the Committee for Party-State Control of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan and the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyz SSR, Deputy Chairman of the Osh Regional Committee of People's Control.
From 1966 to 1971 — Head of the Industrial and Transport Department of the Osh Regional Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Industrial and Transport Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, First Secretary of the Tash-Kumyr City Committee of the Party, Head of the Industrial and Transport Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
From 1972 to 1974 — Chairman of the Frunze City Executive Committee,

From 1993 to 1996 — Director of the State Mining and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.

He was the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of the CPSU-CPSS, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the CPSU-CPSS.
He passed away on July 31, 2004, at the age of 72.

On April 10, 2008, a stamp from the series "Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic" featuring Abasamat Masalievich Masaliev was issued.
Streets and avenues in the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Karakol, Kyzyl-Kiya, Tash-Kumyr, and an ayil district in the Kadamjai District are named in his honor.
A bust of Abasamat Masaliev was installed on the alley of outstanding state figures in Bishkek and in the central square of the city of Batken.
