Suunbai Eraliyev
Born in 1921 in the village of Uch-Emchek, Talas region.
In 1954, he graduated from the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and then from the Higher Literary Courses at the Union of Soviet Writers in Moscow.
During the Great Patriotic War, he fought at the front and was seriously wounded twice.
S. Eraliyev's work experience included newspapers such as "Lenin's Call" and "Pioneers of Kyrgyzstan," and he also served as the secretary of the board of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan, later becoming a literary consultant.
S. Eraliyev's first poetry collection "Birinchi zhanıryk" was published in 1949. A special place in the poet's work is occupied by poems about the Great Patriotic War, where he learned his harsh life lessons. In the poems: "Behind the Picture," "In the Trench," "A Handful of Earth," "A Late Letter," "When We Went to Berlin," "Monument to the Sun," S. Eraliyev expressed his feelings towards all those who firmly believed in victory and the future of the country.
Through his work, S. Eraliyev laid the foundation for the synthesis of history and modernity, celebrating the glory and strength of the national spirit, fulfilling his civic duty to the people with elegant words. The poet also praises in his verses the love for the land of his fathers and grandfathers. The village where he was born and raised lives constantly in his soul, which is reflected in the poems — "The Old House," "When I Come to My Native Village," "Youth." Many of S. Eraliyev's poems are generalized and philosophical.
The poet writes about the meaning of human existence in "Life," "Time," "Years," "Days," "Advice of an Old Man," "Do Good." His poem "Ak Mör" published in 1959 brought him great creative success. This lyrical poem, written on a historical theme, deepened and expanded the possibilities of traditional versification. For the first time in Kyrgyz poetry, he masterfully used the form of free verse. S. Eraliyev is also the author of several other poems in which he reflected global universal images. These include the poems "To the Stars," "Love and War," "White Scents," "Pre-Dawn Thoughts," and others.
S. Eraliyev has made significant contributions to translation activities. The poet's works have been published in Russian, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Kazakh, Tajik, Moldovan, and Karakalpak languages. Thanks to S. Eraliyev's talented translations, the Kyrgyz teacher became acquainted with "Vasily Tyorkin" by A. Tvardovsky, and the collections of poems by Pushkin, Lermontov, Mayakovsky, Shakespeare, Schiller, Whitman, Tagore, Tursun-Zade, and others are undoubtedly creative successes in the poet's translation activities.
In 1974, he was awarded the title of People's Writer of the Kyrgyz SSR. For his contribution to the development of Kyrgyz literature, he was awarded the State Prize named after Toktogul Satylganov (1985) and the title of Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic (2006).
