Osmonaly Sydyk uulu (1875-1940) - a scholar-genealogist, historian, and educator of the early 20th century.
He was born in the Kochkor Valley into the family of a prominent Sarbagysh manap, Abayilda. He received his initial education in his homeland. In 1899, he began studying at a higher Muslim educational institution - a madrasah in Uchturfan (Xinjiang), and at that time he also started collecting historical genealogical information about the Kyrgyz. He continued his studies in the Muslim centers of learning of the early 20th century in Bukhara and Ufa, living among Uyghur, Uzbek, Tatar, and Kazakh educators, learned the Russian language, and was familiar with European scientific achievements (he knew about Edison’s discoveries).
In his works, he called for the elimination of illiteracy and for an enlightened society. Even after the establishment of Bolshevik Soviet power, he continued to educate the population and taught in Bishkek.
In the late 1920s, during the height of the campaign against the descendants of the bai-manaps and the confiscation of property, he was forced to flee to Eastern Turkestan, where he died far from his family in 1940.
During his lifetime and thanks to his own efforts, two of his historical works were published - "Mukhtasar tarykh-i kyrgyziyа" - "A Brief Summary of Kyrgyz History" (Ufa, 1913) and "Tarykh-i kyrgyz shadmaniyа" - "The History of the Kyrgyz (in honor of Shabdan)" (Ufa, 1915) in the Kyrgyz language using Arabic script.
In 1986, the "Xinjiang Youth Publishing House" published these works together under the editorship of Anvar Baytur.
