Dzholdoshev Tokchoro (1903-1937) - the founder of Kyrgyz literary criticism.

He was born in the village of Kara-Bulak in the Kemin district. In 1921, he entered the Jetysu Institute of Enlightenment in the city of Verny, which he graduated from in 1925. During these years, he collaborated with the newspapers "Tilchi," "Ak jol," "Jetysu Truth," and "Erkin-Too."

In 1925, he became a member of the VKP(b), and from 1925 to 1927, he worked in Moscow as an editor and secretary of the section of the Central Publishing House of the Peoples of the USSR. In 1927, he compiled and published the first poetry collection of Kyrgyz poets titled "Kyzyl gul" ("Red Flower").

In 1927-28, in seven issues of the newspapers "Erkin Too" and "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan," he published a series of articles titled "Artistic Literature and Our Poets." From 1927 to 1929, he served as the head of the academic center of the People's Commissariat for Education of the ASSR.

In 1929, at the II All-Kyrgyz Congress of Soviets, he was elected secretary of the KIRTSIK. From 1931 to 1932, he worked as the chairman of the Collective Farm Center of Kyrgyzstan.

From 1933 to 1935, Dzholdoshev was the People's Commissar for Education of the republic. In 1933, he delivered a report titled "Cultural Construction in Kyrgyzstan and the Tasks of People's Education" at the VII Plenary Session of the KirObkom of the VKP(b). He headed the government delegation of Kyrgyzstan to the I Conference on the Study of Productive Forces of Kyrgyzstan in Leningrad, where he presented a report titled "Results of Socialist Construction in Kyrgyzstan during the First Five-Year Plan and Prospects for the Second Five-Year Plan."

In 1934, he was appointed the chief editor of the epic "Manas" being prepared for publication. In 1935, he was arrested. He was rehabilitated in 1956.
