Avershin Stepan Gavrilovich (1901-1972), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1946), Professor (1946), Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR (1961), twice Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR

Russian. Born in the village of Krupets, Kursk region. Graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute (1931).

Worked at the All-Union Surveying Research Institute in Leningrad, the Institute of Mining and Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR, and served as Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR.

Specialist in rock mechanics. Awarded the Orders of the October Revolution, the Red Banner of Labor, and medals of the USSR. Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR (1961).

Published more than 100 scientific works.
