Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Kurmenty, Issyk-Kul region.
Graduated from KSU (1956), postgraduate studies at MSU. Worked as a junior researcher, head of the laboratory, deputy director, director of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences, vice-president, and since 1997 - president of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. Specialist in the field of low-temperature plasma physics and atomic spectroscopy. Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical and Social Sciences of Russia and the Academy of Cybernetics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Awarded medals of the USSR, "Dank" (1997), Honorary Certificates of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR, silver Georgievskaya medal of the International rating "Golden Fortune" (2002).
Honored Scientist of the Kyrgyz Republic (1991).
Published more than 300 scientific works, including 9 monographs and over 30 author's certificates, 9 patents. Under his supervision, 2 doctoral and 18 candidate dissertations have been defended.
