Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Kyzyl-Dyikan, Jayil District, Chui Region. Graduated from KSU (1953), and completed postgraduate studies there (1956).
Worked as a junior researcher, senior researcher, head of the sector at the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR, senior lecturer, associate professor, head of the department, and professor at KGNU.
Specialist in Kyrgyz folklore studies.
Honored Worker of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic (2001). Published more than 90 scientific works, including 10 monographs and educational-methodological manuals.
Under his supervision, 2 candidate dissertations were defended.
