Graduated from KGU (1961), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1967).
Worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer at KGU, associate professor, professor, head of the Department of Social Philosophy and Sociology, head of the department, dean, and since 1997 - professor at BGU.
Specialist in general sociology, political sociology, sociology of stratification of social problems of labor and youth.
Academician of the Social Academy of the Russian Federation (1994), Humanities Academy of the Russian Federation (1996).
Published over 100 scientific works, including 10 monographs and brochures.
Under his supervision, 2 doctoral and 15 candidate dissertations have been defended.
