Specialist in the field of Medieval history and culture of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, source studies, historical geography, and cartography.
Awarded the Honorary Certificate of the Kyrgyz Republic (2002).
Published more than 450 scientific works, including 15 monographs.
Under his supervision, 1 doctoral and 9 candidate dissertations have been defended.
