Kyrgyz. Born in the city of Przhevalsk, Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic. Graduated from KGU (1972).
Worked as a mechanic at a road construction enterprise, technician, engineer at the Project Institute "Dorttransproekt", teacher at a secondary school, junior, senior, leading research fellow, head of the ethnography department, head of the archaeology and ethnography department at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, and since 2001 - part-time lecturer at AUK.
Specialist in the historical and ethnographic study of Kyrgyz folklore. Laureate of the K. Tynystanov Prize (2000).
Published more than 180 scientific works, including 4 monographs.
Under his supervision, 1 candidate's dissertation has been defended.
