Tokombaev Aaly (1904-1988),
People's poet, public figure, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR, Hero of Socialist Labor
Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Chon-Kayindy, Kemin District, Chui Region.
Graduated from the Tashkent State University.
Worked as an editor of the newspaper "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan," in the Kyrgyz section of the Central Publishing House in Moscow, as the chief editor of Kirgosizdat, chairman of the Writers' Union, editor of the newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," director of the Institute of Language, Literature, and History of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences, and editor of the magazine "Chalkan."
Awarded the Orders of Lenin (2), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (3), the Badge of Honor, and medals of the USSR.
His works have been translated into many languages of the world.
