Jewish. Born in the city of Odessa.
Graduated from Perm University (1945), postgraduate studies at Odessa University (1949).
Worked as a lecturer at Perm University, Odessa Pedagogical Institute, KGU, junior and senior research fellow, head of sector, head of department at KNIIP, associate professor at KGU, responsible, since 1977 - chief editor of the journal "Russian Language and Literature in Schools of Kyrgyzstan."
Specialist in the history and methodology of Russian literature.
Awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1986), medals of the USSR, Honorary Certificates of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Honored Teacher of the Kyrgyz SSR (1970).
Published over 300 scientific works, including 3 textbooks, more than 40 books.
Under his supervision, 11 candidate dissertations have been defended.
