Akin-improviser and komuz player Chalagyz Imankulov

Akin-improviser and komuz player Ch. Imankulov was born in the village of Korumdu in the Issyk-Kul district of the Issyk-Kul region in a peasant family.
From 1924 to 1932, he served as the secretary of the Temirovsky, and from 1932 to 1933, he was the chairman of the Tashtak village council.
In 1933, he was hired by Kyrgyz Radio in Frunze, and from 1934 to 1936, he worked at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater, and from 1936, he was a soloist at the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz Philharmonic.
Even before the revolution, Ch. Imankulov was known as a famous akyn-improviser and a master of making komuz instruments. The komuz he made were played by the classics of Kyrgyz music M. Kurunkeev, K. Orozov, I. Tumanov, and A. Ogonbaev.
The manuscript collection at the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR holds fairy tales, stories, and legends collected by the akyn.
His literary creativity began in 1936. His first poetry collection "Nur zaman" ("Bright Life") was published in 1955. Continuing the traditions of Kyrgyz akyn poetry, in his best works, he celebrated the new life in his native land.
Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR (1970).
Member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1959.
Awarded medals: "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "For Valorous Labor.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
