Prose writer and critic D. Kazakbaev was born on June 20, 1940, in the village of Dzhan-Talap, Ak-Talinsky district of Naryn region, in a peasant family.
In 1958, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze, and from 1958 to 1960, he studied at the philological faculty of KGU. In 1965, he graduated from the Literary Institute named after A. M. Gorky under the USSR Union of Writers in Moscow, and in 1974, he completed his postgraduate studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1975, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences.
He began his labor biography in 1965 as the head of a department at the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Pioneri." From 1967, he worked as a lecturer, head of a lecture group, and deputy head of the department of agitation, propaganda, and cultural-mass work at the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan. Since 1974, he has been the deputy chief editor of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madaniyaty."
Since 1985, he has been a literary consultant for prose at the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan.
His literary work began in 1965. His first collection of stories "Mudev" ("Ideal") was published in 1968.
He has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1966 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1978.
He has been awarded the medal "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," certificates of honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, and honorary certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
