Prose writer Kasym KushubekovProse writer K. Kushubekov was born on May 24, 1949, in the village of Pik, Talas district, Talas region, in a peasant family. In 1966, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 1 in Talas, and in 1972, he completed the philological faculty at KGU.
He began his career in 1966 as a pioneer leader at the Chaldovar boarding school in the Leninpol district, and from 1972, he worked there as a teacher of his native language and literature.
Since 1973, he has been working as an editor at the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR, and from 1974, he worked at the newspaper "Leninchil zhash" as a literary employee, correspondent, head of department, and responsible secretary, and from 1980, as the chief editor of the union and foreign information department of KirTAG.
Since 1984, he headed the prose department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan madaniyaty," and since 1987, he has been the head of the department at the magazine "Ala-Too."
He has been published since 1970. His first book—a collection of stories titled "Btkun" ("Blind Rain")—was published in 1978. Individual works have been published in Russian and Ukrainian.
He has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1978, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1986, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1977.
