Poet and prose writer D. Mambetaliev was born on December 18, 1938, in the village of Ottyk, Tian-Shan district of Naryn region, in a peasant family. In 1956, he graduated from Ottyk Secondary School, and in 1963 — from KGMU. He began his career as a doctor and worked until 1969 in various medical institutions of the republic.
Since 1969, he has been the responsible secretary of the magazine "Den sboluk".
His creative biography began in 1962. His first book was a collection of stories and novellas titled "Menin suygnu suluu bulutum" ("My Favorite Cloud"). In 1980, a poetry collection "Mendegi echpes suyulvr" ("The Undying Love Within Me") was published. He is the author of the collection of journalism "Bmurdu'n uzaktygy ezubuzden" ("Longevity Depends on Us"), published in 1981.
He has translated works of V. Mayakovsky, R. Rozhdestvensky, K. Kuliyev, R. Rzy, E. Yevtushenko, and others into Kyrgyz.
A member of the CPSU since 1971, a member of the USSR Union of Writers since 1983, and a member of the USSR Union of Journalists since 1976.
An excellent health worker of the USSR.
