Poet Alexander Nikitenko

Poet Alexander NikitenkoPoet A. Nikitenko was born on April 5, 1948, in Dushanbe in a family of a civil servant. Since 1951, he has lived in Kyrgyzstan. He graduated from Lebedinovskaya Secondary School in the Alamudun district in 1966 and from the philological faculty of KSU in 1971.
He began his work biography in 1971 as an adjuster at the Frunze drill factory, then worked as an editor for the factory's mass-circulation newspaper. Since 1977, he has worked as an editor at the State Publishing House of the Kyrgyz SSR, as a literary worker, and as the responsible secretary of the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan." Since 1986, he has been engaged in creative work.
He began writing poetry early and has been published since 1977. His first poetry collection "Sunflower" was published in 1979. A significant part of the poet's work involves translation. He has translated works of several Kyrgyz poets into Russian, including A. Ryskulov, E. Ermatov, A. Osmonov, A. Degenbaeva, K. Junushev, M. Aamatov, and others.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1986.
He has been awarded Honorary Certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
