
In 1957, he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate, and in 1972 — for the degree of doctor of philological sciences.
In 1943, he was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army. He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
From 1947 to 1948, he worked as a senior technician at the Talas regional UOS.
Since 1955, he has worked as a teacher, and later — as the head of the department of Russian and foreign literature, professor of the department of theory and history of Russian literature at KSU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR, and since 1981 — as the head of the department of literary theory, simultaneously serving as vice-rector for scientific work at Frunze PIRIYAL.
E. Ozmitel entered literature as a front-line soldier. His poems and essays were published in army newspapers. He has been active as a critic and literary scholar since 1952. He is the author of several monographs of a literary and literary-critical nature, brochures, more than 400 articles on literary topics, journalistic articles, and co-author of a textbook on Russian Soviet literature for the 10th grade of Kyrgyz schools.
Honored Teacher of the Kyrgyz SSR (1979).
Member of the CPSU since 1953, member of the USSR Writers' Union since 1975.
Awarded the Orders of the Red Star, Glory III degree, medals "For Courage," "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945," "For Labor Valor," "Veteran of Labor," and others.
