Poet A. Osmonov was born in the village of Kaptal-Aryk in what is now the Panfilov District of the Kyrgyz SSR into a poor family. Orphaned at an early age, he was raised in the Pishpek and Tokmak orphanages. From 192E to 1933, he studied at the Frunze Pedagogical College. From 1932 to 1936, he worked in the editorial offices of the magazine "Chabuul" and the newspaper "Leninchil zhas," and from 1937 to 1940, he served as the secretary of the board of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan on a voluntary basis. He later engaged in creative work.
A. Osmonov began writing poetry at an early age. In 1930, his poem "Krasny oboz" ("Red Train") was published for the first time in the newspaper "Sabat-tuu bol," and in 1935, his first poetry collection "Tatsdagy yrlard" ("Morning Poems") was released. Two poetry collections were published in 1937. In 1945, the collection "Makhabat" ("Love") was published, marking the beginning of a period of vibrant creativity for A. Osmonov. His best works are true masterpieces of Kyrgyz Soviet poetry. These include the poems "Tolubai — the Expert on Horses," "Myryza Uul," "Who is This?," "My Poor Karagul," and others. Between 1943 and 1948, he wrote a number of dramatic works: the plays "Vtoraya brigada" ("The Second Brigade"), "Lyubov" ("Love"), "Obyazdchik Kooman," "Abylkasym Janbolotov," the comedy "Nado otpravitsya v Merke" ("We Must Go to Merke"), the libretto for the opera "Cholponbay," and others. The poet also created highly artistic translations into Kyrgyz of A. S. Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin," W. Shakespeare's "Othello," "Twelfth Night," and I. Krylov's fables, while his translation of "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" by Sh. Rustaveli is considered a masterpiece of artistic poetic translation into Kyrgyz. Several collections of A. Osmonov's poems and epics have been published in Russian and Estonian. In the last years of his life, while suffering from a serious illness, the poet continued to write, creating his most mature, optimistic, and bright works that glorified life and labor.
A. Osmonov was the first among the republic's writers to be posthumously awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the republic (1967). In 1986, the literary prize of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan named after A. Osmonov was established.

Awarded the Order of the "Badge of Honor."
The poet's name has been given to School No. 68 in Frunze, several literary associations in the republic, libraries, and streets in cities and villages of Kyrgyzstan.
