
Poet and translator M. Ronkin was born on October 23, 1928, in Smolensk in a working-class family.
Since 1941, he has lived in Kyrgyzstan. In 1946, he graduated from high school, in 1949— from the Tashkent Tank School, and in 1958— from the correspondence department of the Philological Faculty of KSU.
From 1949 to 1952, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. He began his labor biography as a hydraulic engineer.
Since 1953 to the present, he has been working at the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He has been publishing since 1951. His first poetry collection "Labor Roads" was published in 1963.
A significant place in the poet's work is occupied by the genre of satire. In collaboration with E. Prag, he published several collections of satirical poems. He regularly publishes in the central press and in fraternal republics, and his satirical poems are broadcast on local and all-Union radio. He is the author of several scripts for documentary television films. He actively engages in poetic translation of Kyrgyz poets. He has translated works by A. Tokombaev, K. Malikova, T. Umetaliev, K. Akiev, I. Boronchiev, A. Usenbaev, R. Shukurbekov, M. Alybaev, T. Adysheva, T. Samudinov, and others into Russian.
Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR (1978).
Member of the CPSU since 1954, member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1969, member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1959.
Awarded the medal "30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy".
