Poet Ramis Ryskulov

Poet R. Ryskulov was born on September 9, 1934, in the village of Kyzyl-Tuu, Moscow District, Kyrgyz SSR, in a family of civil servants.
In 1951, he graduated from the Frunze Pedagogical School, and in 1959— from the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute under the USSR Union of Writers in Moscow. From 1953 to 1955, he studied at the Higher Komsomol School under the Central Committee of the Komsomol.
He began his labor biography as a literary worker at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Pioneri," then worked at the editorial office of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas," and since 1959— at the editorial office of the magazine "Ala-Too."
Since 1960, he has been engaged in creative work.
R. Ryskulov's poetic talent revealed itself very early. His first poetry collection "Jaz" ("Spring") was published in 1959.
He is the author of several collections of poems and poems in Kyrgyz, Russian, and Latvian languages. The poet is one of the bold experimenters who renewed Kyrgyz Soviet poetry by introducing free verse. He has translated works of A. S. Pushkin, V. V. Mayakovsky, N. A. Nekrasov, A. Voznesensky, K. Alimdzhan, and others into Kyrgyz.
The poetry collection "Yrlary" ("Poems") was awarded the literary prize of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan named after A. Osmonov in 1986.
A member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1959.
Awarded Honorary Certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
