Translator Kalmak Sayakbaev
Translator K. Sayakbaev was born in the village of Tegizchil in the present-day Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region in a peasant-poor family.
In 1940, he graduated from the Frunze Medical College, and in 1954— from the philological faculty of KSU.

He began his labor biography in 1940 as a paramedic in the Lenin district of the Talas region, then worked in the Ala-Buka district military enlistment office. From 1944, he transitioned to journalism, serving as a literary employee for the newspaper "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan" until 1946, and from 1948— as a senior editor at the Radio Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR, from 1957— as an editor and senior editor at the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house, and from 1967— as the responsible secretary of the magazine "Ala-Tuu".
Since 1981, he has been engaged in creative work.

He has been published since 1948. The writer's first publications were original works for children.
Since 1950, he has appeared as a translator. He has translated works of Russian and foreign classics, as well as Soviet literature, among which special mention should be made of "Anna Karenina" by L. Tolstoy, "Dubrovsky" by A. S. Pushkin, "Oblomov" by I. Goncharov, "Essays on Kyrgyzstan" by Yu. Fuchik, "Cities and Years" by K. Fedin, "The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin" by A. Tolstoy, and others.
He has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1967 and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1958.

He was awarded the medal "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin", a Certificate of Honor, and a Certificate from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
