Prose writer Asanek Stamov Prose writer A. Stamov was born on August 28, 1938, in the village of Chon-Aryk, Moscow District, Kyrgyz SSR, in a peasant family. In 1957, he graduated from Budennovskaya Secondary School in Moscow District, and in 1962— from the philological faculty of KRU. He began his labor biography in 1962 as a teacher at a secondary school in the city of Tokmak.
Since 1964, he served as a correspondent for the republican radio committee, from 1967 as a senior editor, and from 1971 to 1973 as the director of the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house.

Since 1973, he has been the first deputy minister of culture of the Kyrgyz SSR, and since 1985, the chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Since 1986, he has been the director of the Bureau for the Promotion of Artistic Literature of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan.
From 1969 to 1971, he worked in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.

He has been published since 1960. In 1961, the story "Father" was published in the magazine "Ala-Too." His first book was the collection of stories "Taанышуу" ("Acquaintance"), published in 1966. He is the author of several collections of novellas and stories published in his native, Russian, and Ukrainian languages. He has translated the travel notes of Hans Sherfig "Visiting the Kyrgyz," published in 1969 and 1979, as well as works by A. Nesin, M. Jalil, and others.

The novella "Жаны тууган" ("New Relative") was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the republic in 1975.
A member of the CPSU since 1965, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1971, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1967.
He has been awarded the Order of the "Badge of Honor," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR of the 11th convocation and as a deputy of the Frunze City Council of People's Deputies.
