Theater scholar, critic, translator Avas Syrymbetov Theater scholar, critic, translator A. Syrymbetov was born on August 22, 1936, in the village of Kyzyl Oktyabr, Kalinin District, Kyrgyz SSR, in the family of a civil servant. In 1951, he graduated from a seven-year school in the village of Taldy-Bulak, in 1957— from high school there, and in 1962— from the theater studies faculty of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute named after A. N. Ostrovsky.
He began his career in 1951 as an actor at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater. In 1962, he was appointed as an inspector at the Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Since 1971, he has been working as a senior editor at the combined repertoire and editorial board of this Ministry.

He has been publishing since 1962. A. Syrymbetov primarily appears as a theater critic. He is the author of several problem articles, reviews on issues of theatrical culture, and creative portraits of leading masters of art in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the books "Teatr jana turmush" ("Theater and Life", 1970), "Baken Kydykeeva" (1975), "Ch. Aitmatov and Art" (1978), among others. He has translated several plays from domestic classics and Soviet dramaturgy into Kyrgyz.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1979.
Awarded the "Veteran of Labor" medal.
