Prose Writer, Poet Nikolai Udalov

Prose writer, poet Nikolai Udalov Prose writer, poet N. Udalov was born on November 20, 1910—August 8, 1986, in the village of Ivakino, Kologrivsky District, Kostroma Region, in a peasant family of the poor. Since 1917, he lived in Kyrgyzstan. In 1927, he graduated from a seven-year school in Frunze, studied from 1929 to 1931 in courses for railway station attendants in Ashgabat, and from 1933 to 1934 attended the workers' faculty of the Novosibirsk Institute of Transport Engineers. From 1959 to 1961, he was a student at the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow.

He began his labor biography in 1927 as a loader at the Pishpek station. From 1934 to 1938, he lived and worked in Novosibirsk. From 1938, he worked as a literary employee at the editorial office of the newspaper "Komsomolets of Kyrgyzstan," from 1941 to 1942—responsible secretary of the Tokmak newspaper "Krasny Khleborob," from 1942 to 1943—special correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," from 1949 to 1959 and from 1961 to 1967—literary consultant of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan. From 1943 to 1944, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War and was seriously wounded.

He began publishing in 1940. His creative biography started as a poet. In 1950, his first poetry collection "In the Circle of Comrades" was published. He is the author of several novels, collections of stories and tales, and has created literary portraits of many Kyrgyz writers.
He was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR (1974).

He was a member of the CPSU since 1944 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1948.

He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class, the Order of the Red Star, the "Badge of Honor," medals "For Courage," "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941—1945," "For Diligent Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "Veteran of Labor," and a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
