
In 1964, he was assigned as a teacher to a secondary school in the village of Novorossiysk, Kemin district. He worked for some time in Kegetin and Alchalin secondary schools in the Chui region.
From 1964 to 1967, J. Sharshiev served in the ranks of the Soviet Army.
Since 1967, he has been working as a journalist: he has served as a correspondent in the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR and as a literary employee in the editorial office of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhash".
The creative biography of J. Sharshiev begins in 1960. His first book was the poetry collection "Batperek" ("Paper Kite"), published in 1967. He is the author of several collections of novellas and short stories. As a journalist, he frequently appears in the pages of the republican press with publicistic articles, stories, reports, essays, and feuilletons.
He has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1976.
