Poet and critic A. Egemberdiev was born in the village of Toktoyan in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region in a family of civil servants. In 1969, he graduated from the M. Elebaev Secondary School in the village of Taldy-Suu, Tyup district, and in 1974, he graduated from the philological faculty of the KGU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.

He began his career as a teacher of his native language and literature at the M. Bayetov Secondary School in the Ak-Tala district of the Naryn region. Since 1979, A. Egemberdiev has been working in journalism: until 1981, he worked as the deputy editor of the Ak-Tala district newspaper "Kolhoz Emgegi," headed the political education department of the Ak-Tala and Ak-Suu (Issyk-Kul region) district committees of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, served as a consultant at the House of Political Education of the Issyk-Kul regional committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and was the editor of the Tyup district newspaper "Kommunisticheskiy Trud." Since 1986, he has been the deputy editor, and since 1988, the editor of the regional newspaper "Ysyk-Kel Pravdasy." In 1988, he was elected chairman of the regional board of the Union of Journalists of Kyrgyzstan.

He has been published since 1979. In 1985, his first poetry collection "Kundun Yry" ("Song of the Sun") was published. He regularly appears in the press as a literary critic.

A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1978, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1987, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1980.
