Poet Egemberdi Ermatov (Djetimish Aliyev)

Poet Egemberdi Ermatov (Djetimish Aliev) Poet E. Ermatov was born on July 10, 1951, in the village of Pum, Frunze District, Osh Region, in a peasant family. In 1967, he graduated from an eight-year boarding school, in 1970— from Osh Pedagogical College, and in 1979— from the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute under the USSR Writers' Union in Moscow. From 1970 to 1972, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army, and after demobilization, he worked for some time as a literary employee in the editorial office of the district newspaper "Ilich Nuru." Since 1979, he has been a correspondent for the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty."

He has been published since 1970. His first poetry collection "Ak Dil" ("Sincerity") was published in 1979. He is the author of three poetry collections, the drama "Aksatkyn and Kulmyrza," and a co-author of translated editions of works by I. Chavchavadze and collective poetry collections.

He has been a member of the USSR Writers' Union since 1984.
