Prose writer Asankadyr Esenkanov

Prose writer A. Esenkanov was born in the village of Kazan-Kuygan in the Tian-Shan district of the Naryn region in a family of a collective farm worker. In 1956, he graduated from the Otkuk Secondary School, in 1962— from the Philological Faculty of KSU, and in 1976— from the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in Moscow.

He began his labor biography in 1956 as a worker at the horse-breeding farm No. 53. From 1962 to 1964, he taught Kyrgyz language and literature at secondary schools in the Tian-Shan and At-Bashinsky districts. Since 1966, he worked as a literary employee in the editorial offices of the newspapers "Kyrgyzstan Pioneri" and "Leninchil Zhas," and from 1969 he was a correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," from 1971 he was the head of a department, and from 1976 he was the deputy editor of the newspaper "Naryn Pravdasy." Since 1986, he has been working as the deputy chairman of the Naryn regional society for sobriety.

He has been published since 1958. His first collection of stories "Tabyshuu" ("Reconciliation") was published in 1961. He is the author of three books of prose.

Member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1966, member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1987.
