Urban-forming factor

Industrial architecture. Today, the industry of Kyrgyzstan comprises 130 sectors and sub-sectors. Its output has increased 345 times compared to 1913. This development underscores the significance of industrial architecture as an urban-forming factor.
The leading organization in the field of industrial design is the institute "Kyrgyzpromproekt".
In Kyrgyzstan, many factories and plants have been built, which have a quite expressive appearance, such as: the flour mill in Kara-Balta, the house-building plant No. 2, the drill factory, the sheet glass factory in Tokmak, the sugar factory in the village of Belovodskoye, the flour mill in Kara-Suu, and a number of other industrial enterprises. A significant contribution to the architecture of the city of Frunze has been made by the industrial architecture of the last decade. Factories such as the May 1 Factory, the hosiery factory, the VLKSM garment factory, the small series design bureau of the Academy of Sciences, and the building of the publishing house of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, etc., have been constructed. All these facilities have proven their right to exist in the urban environment. They are distinguished by scale, authenticity, and expressiveness of architecture.
The most important achievement of modern industrial architecture in Kyrgyzstan is a comprehensive approach to solving production territories in conjunction with the residential area of the city. Industrial territories and productions are combined into industrial nodes and complexes with the cooperation of networks, engineering structures, auxiliary productions, and storage areas. Projects for industrial nodes have been developed and implemented for Frunze, Osh, Przhevalsk, Tokmak, Jalal-Abad, Rybachye, and others. In the construction of enterprises, the unification of buildings and structures for all enterprises in the node is widely applied, standard sections and spans are introduced, and attention to the aesthetics of buildings, interiors, and landscaping is increased.
Urban-forming factor

Public buildings. The distinctive features of the architecture of public buildings in Kyrgyzstan are their massiveness and construction based on standard projects through extensive industrialization. This includes: schools, preschool institutions, clubs, cinemas, trade enterprises, public catering and household services, and medical institutions. Standard projects for schools and preschool institutions suitable for Kyrgyz conditions are developed by the design institute "Kyrgyzgiprostroy", while similar projects for rural areas are executed by the institute "TsNIIPEsvtsiprom"; other types of buildings are usually tied to projects developed in other republics.
A special place in the structure of public buildings is occupied by unique objects built in recent years according to individual projects in Frunze, Osh, Przhevalsk, Talas, and Naryn. The architecture of these buildings features traits that indicate a change in the qualitative characteristics of buildings and a creative approach to solving architectural tasks.
Since the late 1960s to the present, the city of Frunze has seen the construction of the M. V. Frunze Museum, the hotels "Kyrgyzstan", "Pishpek", and "Issyk-Kul", the Russian Drama Theater, the Kyrgyz Drama Theater, the Museum of Fine Arts, the V. I. Lenin Sports Palace, the State Circus, a branch of the Central Museum of V. I. Lenin, the V. I. Lenin Library, three large markets, and others. In the cities of Osh, Przhevalsk, and Naryn, there are drama theaters and large administrative buildings.
A characteristic feature of these buildings is their monumentality, deep plastic elaboration of facades and interiors, confident use and distribution of natural materials, skillful development of stone surface textures, and the search for national uniqueness. Today, the architecture of public buildings constructed according to standard projects still significantly lags behind the architecture of unique buildings in terms of quality, therefore one of the tasks of the modern stage is to fundamentally improve the architecture of mass buildings.
