Alamedin Gorge

The Alamedin Gorge is characterized by the exuberance of nature and diverse vegetation.

The Alamedin Gorge is located on the northern slope, in the central, highest part of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too ridge, 30 kilometers east of the city of Bishkek. It is one of the longest gorges stretching from south to north, with a length of about 50 kilometers.

Steep rocky slopes, magnificent dense juniper forests, and towering snow and ice peaks rising up to 4900 meters above sea level cannot leave nature lovers indifferent.

A swift river, the Alamedin, flows through the gorge, originating from the icy slopes of the upper part of the gorge. It is one of the main rivers crossing Bishkek.

For many decades, the sanatorium "Warm Springs" has existed in this natural health resort, named after the natural springs. Numerous springs are the "calling card" of the gorge. They are renowned for their healing power. They form streams that flow into the Alamedin River, which runs at the bottom of the deep gorge. The beneficial effects of the high mountain climate on health (the sanatorium is located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level) are known far beyond the borders of Kyrgyzstan, and the healing pools with natural hot radon water, also offered by the "Warm Springs" sanatorium, are strongly recommended by doctors to their patients for various ailments. Swimming in such a spring should not exceed ten minutes and should be done after prior consultation with a doctor. Further along the road is a complex of cottages built by the Ministry of Energy in 1984.

The main attraction is the cascade of waterfalls. To see them in all their glory, one should come here in May-June, before they lose their volume under the scorching sun.

You can stop for an overnight stay or a long break near the waterfall. At the foot of the mountain from which the water flows, you will not be disturbed by winds, as on the summit. Moderate bathing in the natural spring will benefit the body, the tan will lay more evenly, and you will return from the trip rejuvenated in spirit and body.

The area around the Salyk Glacier is the most popular, where, like in Ala-Archa's Ak-Say, there are walls rising up to 1000 meters above sea level and excellent opportunities for ascents. The areas of other glaciers in Alamedin, such as Altyn-Tor and Tuyuk-Tor, are much less popular due to their lower altitudes - up to 500 meters.
