Peak Mira (4940 m) - located near Peak Lenin
Mira I, in English Myra I, is a medium-height peak located in the northern mid-subtropical latitudes of the Eastern Hemisphere, at coordinates 39.4333° north latitude, 73° east longitude. Geographically, the peak is situated in: Eurasia (Asia), Central Asian Ridges, Pamir. Administratively, the peak is located in: Kyrgyzstan.
The height of the peak is four thousand nine hundred fifty meters, or sixteen thousand two hundred forty feet.
The first ascent of the peak did not take place until the year 1993. The best months for climbing are: June, July, August.
Reaching the summit of Mira I is not a difficult task in terms of sports mountaineering. Some sections may require certain efforts, but the entire route can be completed in one day without the need for a large amount of special gear and equipment. Organizing intermediate camps, as well as complex acclimatization for such a peak, is not required.
The rock wall of Peak Mira encloses the western cirque of the Left Aksai glacier. It is located in the southern part of the Kaskelen ridge, immediately after its first branching. To the east of the peak rises an unnamed summit (approximately 4200 m). The northern side of the peak drops off with a 600-meter wall to a small glacier of the same name, situated at the head of the valley of the western source of the Left Aksai; the southern side is rocky, dissected by steep couloirs descending to the Kaskelen glacier. The first ascent of Peak Mira was made on May 30, 1954, by a group of Almaty climbers consisting of: Ya. Markushin, L. Musaev, K. Pilyagin, O. Shkuratov, under the leadership of M. Grudzinsky.
