Borkoldoy Ridge

Borkoldoy

A mountain range in the Inner Tien Shan, in the southeastern part of Kyrgyzstan. The length of the ridge is about 100 km. The average height is 4300 m. There is significant glaciation on the northern slope. The ridge is composed of crystalline schists, marbles, and granites. The slopes are predominantly covered with semi-desert vegetation, while higher up, there are rocks and scree with sparse xerophytic vegetation.
Borkoldoy Ridge

Although the area is not particularly high on average, its harsh climate, steep slopes, and significant elevation changes make it a serious place to consider. There is little to do here without decent experience in autonomous hiking, good equipment, and, most importantly, sufficient motivation for your actions. Aside from border guards, there is no one else around, and help is far away in case of an emergency. Throughout the described history, only a few tourist groups have ventured here. Our climbers have not honored the area with their presence since the Letavet period, focusing instead on the higher and more glamorous Kokshaal-Tau. Foreign groups have wandered here, but they do not typically share information. As a result, there are still many opportunities for first ascents of both peaks and passes of any difficulty, and perhaps the sporting exploration of this area is still ahead. The highest points of the area, peaks 5170 and 5147, remain unvisited to this day.
