Lake Zhashyl-Köl

Zhashyl-Köl, which translates from Kyrgyz as "green lake"

It is located in the Chon-Kemin Valley, at an altitude of about 3200 m. The valley is fabulously rich in forests: coniferous, formed by the relict fir of the Tian Shan; mixed, where aspen, willow, and birch coexist alongside fir; and floodplain, dominated by sea buckthorn bushes and deciduous trees.

The coniferous forest, stretching in the zone from 1700 to 3200 m, makes the air of the valley healing, and the abundance of mushrooms, berries, and medicinal herbs will enhance any rest.

This magnificent mountain lake shines in the sunlight like an emerald. From a distance, it appears green, but as you approach, you are surprised to discover that the water is completely transparent. Such are the metamorphoses in the style of Kyrgyzstan. It is always like this; you prepare for one wonderful view that you imagined from the photo. And when you arrive at the place, you can hardly utter a word from the mesmerizing beauty. Often, it is many times more magnificent than in the picture. Apparently, a multitude of factors combine – the local "tasty" air, the bright shades of green, and the shimmering rays of the sun in the streams of crystal-clear water.
