On March 20, 2018, at 15:00, the opening of the exhibition "BELDEMCHI" will take place in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of the KR gallery "Oak Park" named after S.A. Chuykov, at the address Bishkek, Pushkina 78A.
The aim of the project is to revive and develop beldemchi, to pass on traditional knowledge to the younger generation, and to popularize this type of traditional women's clothing in modern life. The project "BELDEMCHI" was implemented by the Public Foundation "Uluu Dara" with the support of the Public Foundation "Institute for Sustainable Development Strategy" within the framework of the small grants program "Zhashtar Demilgesi".
Project participants, artists, and designers: Zuhra Mukambetova, Aida Maitasheva, Cholpon Alamanova, Nurgul Moldosanova, Naginya Kerimbekova, were inspired by the heritage of our grandmothers—the ancient beldemchi—and expressed their creative vision and use of beldemchi in the modern world.
