Felt Products Festival "Kyrgyz Shyrdak".


On June 28, 2014, an international festival "Kyrgyz Shyrdak" will take place in the village of At-Bashi in the At-Bashi district of the Naryn region.

The goal of the festival is to preserve heritage, develop the art of shyrdak, pass it on to future generations, spread it among the population, support skilled craftswomen, and implement the decisions of the Kyrgyz government and UNESCO.

In particular, shyrdak and ala kiyiz were included in the UNESCO list as an endangered, rare, and valuable form of intangible heritage from December 4-7, 2012.

According to the festival regulations, the best shyrdaks with original ancient patterns will be determined, master classes on shyrdak making will be held, exhibitions of felt products and national dishes will be organized, and a competition for young craftsmen will take place to identify new talents.

In addition, the national game "Kyrgyz Kuresh" (wrestling) will be held. For those interested, routes to the historical monuments "Koshoy-Korgon" and "Tash-Rabat" will be organized.

At the same time, a festival of the Kyrgyz national drink - kumys - will be held.
