
On August 9, 2014, the second Berry and Fruit Festival Karagat FEST will take place in the village of Kyzyl-Suu in the Jeti-Oguz district. This is an annual summer festival of berries and fruits.
Festival Goals:
Promotion and popularization of berries and fruits from the Issyk-Kul region;
Creation of a unified platform for establishing partnerships between farmers, consumers, and processors;
Promotion of nurseries, greenhouses, and modern storage facilities;
Promotion of drip irrigation systems;
Promotion of short-term courses on growing currants and other berries;
Improvement of the economic well-being of the local population through the cultivation of ecologically clean berries and fruits;
Development of eco-tourism;
Familiarization with the potential and attractions of the southern coast of Lake Issyk-Kul.
Jeti-Oguz will host the annual Berry and Fruit Festival "Karagat Fest." The second annual festival will be held near the district center Kyzyl-Suu (Pokrovka). It is planned that the festival will attract 3-4 thousand tourists and local residents.
The event will give a boost to the development of agricultural processing, particularly for farmers whose lands are occupied by fruit and berry crops.
As previously reported, the first "Karagat Fest" took place on August 10, 2013, in the village of Bokonbaeva in the Ton district of the Issyk-Kul region. The exhibition-fair not only showcased the full range of fruit and berry products but also served as a platform for establishing production connections between farmers and processors.
