On September 28, Sunday, at 17:00, the Kyrgyz State Opera and Ballet Theatre will present the performance of “Raymonda,” a ballet by A. Glazunov, featuring the People's Artist of the Russian Federation, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Maria Allash, and the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Anton Korsakov.
“Raymonda” is a ballet in three acts; the composer is A. K. Glazunov, with the libretto by M. I. Petipa and I. A. Vsevolozhsky based on a scenario by Lydia Pashkova.
The premiere took place on January 7, 1898, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
The plot is based on a chivalric legend of love that refers back to the early Middle Ages, to Western European chivalric romances. The romantic plot and successful libretto provide the performance with great spectacle and appeal for staging.
The music of “Raymonda” is among the outstanding achievements of Russian musical art. Its beauty, vivid imagery, and melodic generosity combine with effectiveness and dramatic contrast between “European” and “Eastern” intonations.
