The Monster of Ala-Archa Gorge
Ala-Archa Gorge is located in Kyrgyzstan, in the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains.
Here is a climbing camp, which houses a district control and rescue point. The local inhabitants have repeatedly encountered unusual phenomena. Climbers and rescuers claim that UFOs appear here almost every night. Typically, glowing spheres emerge near the summit of Free Korea.
They then pass over the Aksai Gorge and disappear behind the Bachachek ridge. For instance, on August 22, 1991, five bright spherical objects "descended" along a traverse from the summit of Teke-Tora and disappeared into the Aksai Gorge at high speed. Participants of the all-Union climbing gatherings observed this unusual phenomenon for about an hour in February 1991.
In the area of the Crown Towers, several giant cigar-shaped objects hovered, slowly drifting southward. Smaller glowing UFOs flew out from them. After circling around, they "flew" back inside. The longitudinal dimensions of the "cigars" seemed to be several kilometers. On another occasion, a large spherical UFO came into the view of the climbers. There have been cases where a spherical source of light approached a person who dared to "call" this object to himself.
Besides UFOs, visiting climbers, camp instructors, and rescue service staff have repeatedly noticed a strange humanoid creature in the vicinity. Senior instructors-climbers Vladimir Poltavsky and Valery Nazarenko have encountered it many times at various points along the route, particularly at the Rapechka campsite and near the hut under the summit of Uchitel.
At the campsite, the creature appeared in the presence of several people. Clearly distinguishable in the moonlight, it walked leisurely over the rocks 30-40 meters from the living quarters, paying no attention to the stunned people. Sometimes the creature even climbed onto the roof of the hut, and then people did not dare to go outside.
While inside the hut, the instructors heard heavy, lumbering footsteps near the summit. The stones beneath the monster's feet crunched as if a multi-ton tractor was driving over them.
The creature was also seen at the control and rescue point. One night, everyone in the room was awakened by heavy footsteps. A huge, nearly three-meter figure entered Alexey Kalashnikov's room right through the closed door and froze in the center of the open space with a blank, expressionless gaze. The creature disappeared just as it had appeared.
An even more incredible case occurred with climber-rescuer Alexey Lyakh. One night, he was awakened by a strange feeling of heaviness pressing down on his body. Alexey opened his eyes and found that someone’s elbow was pressing down on his chest. To his horror, he noticed a creepy-looking creature half sticking out of the wall(!) and examining him closely. Then the monster "retracted" back into the wall and vanished.
Strange things also happen at the control and rescue point with animals. A cat nicknamed Lemon hisses for a long time, bristling its fur, while a dog, with its tail tucked between its legs, barks at something invisible in the corner of the room. At this time, people experience a feeling of "invisible presence" of something foreign. Once, an invisible entity brutally beat the cat right in front of everyone, tossing the animal around the room like a ball.
Even objects behave "anomalously." In the absence of people, a heavy metal chest somehow "moved" from its elevated position to the floor, which one person could not even lift. Tools in the workshop "migrate" from place to place on their own...
All these facts prompted the head of the Kyrgyz rescue service to seek explanations from the Central Asian and Kazakh collegium of ufological sciences. However, they could not provide a coherent explanation for the incidents in Ala-Archa Gorge. So, the question remains - what is it?
A result of hallucinations caused by a lack of oxygen in the mountain air, the influence of some vapors, or manifestations of a parallel energy-information world? Or perhaps it all relates to the legendary "snowman"?
Or to contacts with aliens? Another mystery of the mysterious mountains...
In Ala-Archa Gorge (as well as in other places of the Tian Shan), one can encounter the snowman. This strange, hairy humanoid creature is occasionally seen by climbers, instructors, and rescue service staff. Senior instructors Poltavsky and Nazarenko have encountered it many times at various points along climbing routes. Cryptozoologists refer to it as a relict hominoid and debate what it is: a Neanderthal that has survived to this day, a Pithecanthropus, or even an older Australopithecus?
The snowman leads a nocturnal lifestyle. In the 1980s, it repeatedly approached the climbers' hut on a remote slope of Mount Uchitel. People observed from the windows as it, clearly visible in the moonlight, walked around the hut and rummaged through boxes and belongings in search of food. Once, this "master of the mountains" climbed onto the roof. It sagged under its weight, and people feared that it might collapse and the monster would be among them.
However, there have also been cases where it entered the hut. One such visit occurred in the winter of 1990. The terrifying hairy giant, nearly 2.5 meters tall, appeared in the doorway and then stepped inside. People were in shock. No one could move. For some time, it stood in the middle of the room, looking around, and then exited, brushing against the door frame and leaving a bit of its fur behind. Analysis showed that it was neither human nor ape hair.
The hominoid, like many other animals, protects its territory from intruders, which it considers to be humans. It seeks to scare them away, to make them leave. Climbers sitting around the campfire at night often hear strange whistles, screams, or cries that a human cannot produce. Sometimes, a stone flies out of the darkness, thrown by some strong hand, and strikes right in the middle of the fire.
Can the snowman read minds?
The old-timers of the climbing camp are convinced of the telepathic abilities of the snowmen. For example, it is almost impossible to encounter it if you are searching for it deliberately. It always appears unexpectedly when people are not prepared for such a meeting. Moreover, it can instill fear in people without showing itself.
Once, a group of climbers traversing a snowy slope was suddenly overcome by a panic terror. Abandoning their gear, they all ran back to the camp. Only after half a kilometer did they come to their senses, stop, and start asking each other what had happened, why everyone was so scared. Later, upon inspecting the scene, the instructors found scattered belongings of the climbers and traces of large bare feet. In the 1980s, expeditions aimed at capturing or at least filming or photographing the hominoid came to the Tian Shan, particularly to Ala-Archa Gorge.
The searches were unsuccessful. The snowman seemed to sense that it was being sought. Throughout the time that the expedition members were scouring the surroundings, there was no sign of it. Searchers found barefoot footprints, made plaster casts of them, and left with those. Yet just a couple of days later, the "master" would again make its presence known or appear itself.
Things are even worse if people arrive with the intention of shooting it. Instructors recall days when two such "hunters" stayed at their base. Many felt unwell at that time, some had headaches, and the hunters felt the worst of all.
In addition to UFOs and the snowman, ghostly figures, time shifts, and other anomalous phenomena have been observed in Ala-Archa Gorge. However, all this does not prevent climbers from engaging in their favorite activity and even enriches their lives in the mountains with new, unusual sensations. After all, here there is an opportunity not only to conquer a mountain but also to touch a mystery.
